The crowd-pleaser of the concert was Mallamud’s “Folies Requiem,”....The work comes in snippets of music from the singers and the orchestra and is alternating snappy and saucy, corny, touching and tragic. The singers delivered with torchy French, cabaret-style accents, and the piece was cleverly written with lots of surprises.

David Mallamud's "Folies Requiem" is a faithful
reproduction of Parisian music hall sounds of the 20th century...the composer's handling of the instruments and the beautiful playing of the band made this the most
entertaining work of the evening.
